Cermaq Canada farms Atlantic salmon off Vancouver Island with operations in the Broughton Archipelago, Discovery Islands, Clayoquot Sound and Barkley Sound.

As part of their commitment to transparency and sustainability practices, Cermaq Canada retained EELO Solutions to support their journey to embark on certifying their farms under the Aquatic Stewardship Council’s Salmon Standards. We analyzed energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions on a lifecycle and annual basis for two of their farms and the framework is used to expand to other farms. We also conducted an energy assessment, developed a greenhouse gas inventory, and generated practical opportunities to reduce energy cost and emissions. Subsequently, we expanded the scope and developed energy and carbon baselines for all Cermaq Canada assets and benchmarked these facilities.
