Mining Sector Energy Innovation Road Map for CMIC
The Canadian Mining Innovation Council (CMIC) is a federally incorporated non-profit organization comprised of a unique partnership between industry, academia and government. CMIC was created to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the Canadian mining industry by ensuring excellence in research, innovation and commercialization.
EELO Solutions worked with CMIC’s Energy Committee and developed a road map with the objective to enable CMIC’s Energy Technical Committee in determining "step change" research priorities in energy conservation and alternative fuel technologies for the next 5 to 10 years. The study was completed through professionally designed and executed surveys and interviews with key personnel in mining companies, research facilities, and through vendors.
Deliverables included:
Surveying 50+ participants from the mining industry, academia, consulting, and technology companies to map out the current status of mining energy management in Canada
Interviewed VP-level mining executives and top researchers to understand challenges and opportunities on mining energy management
Developed and led workshops to facilitate key CMIC Energy Technical Committee members to set priority research areas from survey/interview findings
Authored the road map, which identified three innovation priorities and three knowledge gaps to be addressed
